Every day is a fresh start – this is an integral sentiment to our approach to behaviour management – a new opportunity to learn something new.  All of our pupils have Education and Health Care Plans, and the specific intervention/s that are required by the plan occur throughout the day using our Interventions Team.

Upon Arrival

Each pupil’s day will start with breakfast and wellbeing sessions – it is important to start the day feeling nourished and welcomed.

Morning Sessions

Each morning involves:

Guided reading and phonics sessions


Assemblies/Votes for Schools etc

As well as opportunities to play and exercise; pupils can also access our in-house Art Therapist for sessions.

After morning break pupils will have a maths session, followed by one of the following:

  • PSHE
  • RE
  • Whole class friendship intervention

Lunch and playtime

Our school meals are provided by Chartwells.  Please see the School Meals section of our website for further information/menu’s.

Afternoon Sessions

In the afternoon pupils will take part in one of the following:

  • PE
  • Science
  • Art / DT
  • IT
  • History / Geography

Music Lessons are held once a week for each class

Swimming lessons are held for a half term and all pupils have the opportunity to attend across the school year.

Pupils also have the opportunity to cook and explore healthy food or food that illustrates wider learning – such as: ‘Why we have hot cross buns!’

Pupils at Phoenix Academy have access to a full curriculum and opportunities to reinforce their learning through special visits and educational opportunities.
